It gives a brief historical perspective and later on describes its present structure. The focus of this paper is on the structure and management of the AGF and emphasis is given to the administration and organisation of artistic gymnastics at the national level. Artistic gymnastics is the oldest competitive discipline in the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and AGF. There are data from interviews conducted with coaches, judges, gymnasts and administrators from this organisation. This overview of Australian gymnastics is part of a bigger project that deals with organisational aspects and their influence on performance.
