自五四新文學運動以來，新詩取代了舊詩的位置，在大量的現代文學史、白話文學史或詩歌通史中，大多以五四為新詩、舊詩的分水嶺；鮮有對五四以來的舊體詩作詳細而全面的分析。作為一個文學現象，自五四以來，舊體詩創作活動仍然延續著，在研究現代文學時，似乎不應「有意」地忽視對舊體詩的評論及探討。(撮要取自內文首段)
