本文利用《宜興胥井、武進前街董氏合修家乘》，研究明清兩代，董氏家族支派在鄉村和城市的不同生活方式和生活取向。展示譜牒資料不同於正史、地方誌而獨具的文獻價值。

With the Genealogy Which Revised by Both Branches of Dong Family Who Lived in Xujing of Yixing and Qianjie of Wujin, this article has made a research on the branches of Dong Family, who lived in countries and cities with different ways and tendencies of life during Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. Compared withauthorized history and gazetteers, the peculiar value of Genealogy has been showed by this research.
