對於新聞記者來說如此熟悉的短語“扮演上帝”在關於生殖系的遺傳干預的爭論中顯現出重要的意義。雖然在“扮演上帝”這個短語中蘊含著人類自鳴得意所帶來的危險，但在這裏特別注意基督教的那種按神的形象創造的人的概念。人類被賜予了“被創造的創造夥伴”的稱號。有鑒於此，在考查和反駁禁止生殖系干預的倫理時，以一種開放的態度來讓這一世代對我們後代擔負創造性的責任。
