2008 年暑期，香港浸會大學應用倫理學研究中心舉辦了第二屆「建構中國生命倫理學」研討會，這是繼首屆應用倫理學研討會成功之後又一次重要的學術活動。與會學者從不同的角度著重探討當代生命倫理學所面臨的具體問題，與此同時，研討會涉及了中國傳統倫理價值系統（尤其是儒家）與當代生命倫理學互動互利的可能性。本期刊物呈現給讀者的文章，均由這屆研討會中的論文選編而成。另外，本期還附加羅秉祥教授的一篇論文，他是這次研討會主講人之一。
