生死決策是人生最重要的決策，也是生命倫理學中最艱難的決 策。本期的六篇論文，除了最後一篇論述長期照護的政策之外，其餘各篇均探討生死決策問題，特別是有關墮胎、臨終關懷以及自殺方面的決策問題。綜合看來，這些論文表達了兩方面的思想。一方面是，西方主流生命倫理學在生死決策方面陷入了困境，難以自拔；另一方面是，儒家傳統在生死決策方面具有豐富的資源，構成了不同於西方主流思想的軟實力，值得我們認真探索。本前言將依據各篇論文，概述這兩方面的思想，供讀者參考。
